Had a puncture in a farm yard today, which ripped the off side front tyre to near shreds. Long story....run over some very sharp metal fragments, which I didn't see. My fault.

But this happened in the middle of the Preseli Hills, in a very isolated place. The farmer and his son helped me to change the wheel, but if I had one of those daft pump things, instead of a proper spare, I might still be there now.

Kiddo....I am covered by Fords breakdown service, which tends to be the RAC/AA by default. God knows how long it would have taken them to arrive today.....the place where I broke down took me 45 mins just to find it !
Roadside rescue are unlikely to carry you back. They'll just fit your spare anyway. Same problem but with additional waiting time.

Got my new tyre today....£40, which was quite a bit less than I was prepared for ! As I said yesterday, it only had about 1000 miles wear left on it, so no great loss.
