Ill thought out.
They needn't worry too much. I went into a Wagamama once. I should imagine they don't get too many repeat visitors.
An over zealous manager.

//Wagamama insisted the rule was "strictly not company policy"//
On a more serious note, it never ceases to amaze me how many pillocks seem to be promoted to "managerial" positions. Quite how this idiot expected that his notice would go er... unnoticed is unclear. In these days of digital photography and "social meeja" it was obvious that his edict would appear online somewhere sooner rather than later. Hid idiocy is breathtaking.
Somebody just needs to use their noodle.
I confess Wagamama had completely passed me by, I had never heard of them.
They have 140 ‘restaurants’, including 5 in Manchester. I do not have any interest in eating Japanese food which may explain why they have never been on my radar.

Their is a clue to their apparent lack of moral compass here
// In 2005, the restaurant's owner Graphite Capital sold the majority stake of 77.5% to Lion Capital LLP for £103 million. In 2011 the chain was sold to Duke Street Capital for an estimated sum of £215M. //

Basically, they are run by money men not people with a love of food.

Gromit: "I confess Wagamama had completely passed me by, I had never heard of them. " - You're lucky, I went in once on a work do, and ended up waiting for the others in a bar round the corner. I could not find anything edible on the menu!
I always think that while Japanese food looks marvelous...all that pretty Sushi for example, it is ultimately not very satisfying.

Its no wonder that most Japanese people are a little on the slight size....who could get fat eating that !
Oh I found two menu options I quite liked. But last time I was there, the one I asked for was off.

it's all a load of inedible tish mikey, these places exist for the pretentious surely no one actually like that pony.
What I find a little off is the Japanese custom, apparently, of not serving the whole table at the same time, but bringing stuff out as it's done, thus embarrassing those with food because others don't yet. First time one goes there isn't even a warning of the weird practice.
I completely agree with you Tora, and had a similar experience. We had a works do at a similar place and I too could not find anything edible. Decor, service abd clientel were all terrible.
