We hear this time and time again but nothing is done and the problem is growing. Time for the authorities to abandon tolerance?

Faith schools have for decades been allowed to get away with all kinds of horrendous offences because (even if they are subsidised) they are cheaper to run than state schools, and the government can't be bothered to pick up the slack. It's a disgrace - all of them should be closed.
Particularly vile was this recent example of an Islamic faith school which refused to provide toilet paper or hand-washing facilities to students for "cultural reasons"

One major step which the government must take, as soon as possible, is to give local councils the responsibility for identifying children who do not go to mainstream schools. Did you know that nobody is obliged to know which children are being "home schooled" or how many of them there are, or what their education consists of ? Boys can be taught nothing but religion, girls can be taught nothing but "looking-after-granny", if that's what the parents want. High time this throw-back to the time of private tutors and governesses was abandoned, since the present system means that many thousands of children are not being prepared for modern life and cannot earn their living, and may not even be able to speak English. fluently
I don't know if any of those ABers who are slagging off 'Faith Schools' have ever been in one, and I am talking about what was once called 'Church Schools'.
There seemed to be no trouble about these schools until the introduction into this country of Islamic Schools, which it seems is a completely different institution.
Many, many years ago my school life began in a Church of England School, we were taught traditional subjects just the same as any other state school, the only difference being instead of morning attendance, of hymns and prayers taking place in the school hall, as most other none church schools did, we were marched to our nearest church and they were carried out there.
Once back in school religion wasn't mentioned again until the 'Religious Education' lesson (the same in all schools at that time)
Incidentally in all English schools at that time, the Church of England faith was prominent and all other faiths stood out during the morning assembly.

The simple answer to the religious problem is to remove it totally from schools. There should be no religious schools of any denomination be they State, Free, Private or Public.
Of course that does not address the underlying problem of the right-on minority who have levered themselves into positions where they can inflict their doctrine on us. Equally as bad as Religious indoctrination IMHO.

I would prefer it if we didn't have a state religion AOG. But it's too late to remove it now, and if we did the subsequent moaning and whinging from Christians would simply not be worth the trouble.
