Barclays have closed my savings account, there was only a few pennies in it but they have transferred those pennies to my current account, can they do that without my say so.

I closed a Halifax savings account that I'd not used for years only last weekend. I'd always received correspondence about it and they never suggested closing it. I had to go through the rigmarole of paperwork to close it - current balance was 1p!!!
