How would you describe the music of (a) Bent, and (b) Deadly Avenger? (Please - no insults. If you don't like them, ignore this question and go). Into what sort of category can you place them? They're my two favourite current bands and I find it hard to describe them to other people.

All the usual spiel about 'labelling' music aside, it can be useful to translate your tastes, so to speak. The best way might be by referring to other artists, but if you can't do that within the bounds of what the other person knows, I'd say the following: Bent - 'after hours' and 'laidback electronic' are nice and vague, but I guess you could manage that on your own. How about 'a very English infusion of proto-Latin rhythms and sentimental soul'? I can't really remember much about Deadly Avenger - is he not on the breakbeat side of the fence? Incidentally, anything new from him recently?
