what's all this about them cracking down on swapping? A friend of mine got a letter from his ISP (BT) telling him off!

Oh my God, seriously?! As far as I understood it, you would get an on-screen warning, but only if you were a serial downloaded... I mean downloading tens of songs every week or more. And then if you continued after the on-screen warning, you might get a letter warning. Did your friend used to download lots and lots and lots?
My reply would simply be to get out the terms part of his contract with BT for his ISP and make sure that they are in anyway allowed to monitor his online surfing habits....I know NTL make a point of saying that they don't do this along with a few others...If BT do then I would wonder if they have breached their confidentiality clauses...If not then I would swap (or at least threaten to in a letter) ISP's....simple enough to do and I would anyway as BT aren't great from what I have heard.
I am assuming this stems with BT and Yahoo jumping in bed together and Yahoo having Launch which is trying to promote the online purchasing of music. I wouldn't worry about the whole thing just yet.
