Sorry if this has already been discussed. Did anyone watch this amazing programme on Tuesday night? I found it really moving. For most of his life, broadcaster and naturalist Chris Packham didn't tell anyone about the one thing that in many ways has defined his entire existence. Chris is autistic - he has Asperger's Syndrome, which means he struggles in social situations, has difficulty with human relationships and is, by his own admission, 'a little bit weird'.
Was on BBC2 and you can watch it on iPlayer.

hIa, you won't have to wait long. It's on tomorrow night (Monday 23rd) @ 11.15pm. Let me know you've seen this please.
Thank you for that, LB.....I'll pass it on to folk I've been telling about this programme....

It's over forty years since I worked with my first autistic child.....so much has changed over the years and we are always learning but there was so much in this programme to make us stop and reconsider our thoughts on autism....how very different every autistic person is.....and how we should be responding to individual needs.....
It really was the story of Jacob that brought me up sharp.....x
maggiebee at 14:30, if you didn't want opinions you should have said.

hereiam,
Link at 16:42, first page
Baldric, that's my link @ 16.42 which hIa replied to @ 14.24 the next day(on page 4). She couldn't play it. That's why I'm telling her when it's on again.

Ah ok.
Thanks lb, just seen your post, I will record it tonight - thank you x
You're welcome. Enjoy. x
Just caught up with this programme on BBC I player.
I found it deeply moving.
Just catching up on this thread and see I missed a chance to respond to V-E's little dig at my reply. Not that it amounted to a hill of beans.

I have no great feelings re Chris Packham one way or the other, but greater awareness of Autism etc is always a good thing.

I'm blessed with those in my life and they have taught me a lot.
I have been watching it all week. I love the program, even it it did make me nearly miss University Challenge last night !

I like Packham....he brings over his own enthusiasm very well.
Wow! Just catching up on my recorded programmes......what a positive response to this documentary on Points of View from folk with Asperger's...!

Now, more programmes like this would be so good in making us understand and think more..... :-)
More Packham?

No thanks.
Packham or not....(I adore him but then I have a thing for folk Like him)....it wasn't about Packham...it was about watching the programme and understanding .....even just a little...about people who are different....
And the more time I spend reading posts on AB the more I despair at how people who don't fit must suffer.......xxx
Tell me about it.....

A life of suffering.....
Hmmmmm....oh I think you fit....somewhere.... ;-)
Who've you been speaking to?
I don't need to speak......I'm Irish.....I have the gift......and the sight....... :-)
