I'm not a camera buff at all, so please be gentle with me! :o)

I've just bought a Canon IXUS IIs 3.2 megapixels digi camera off eBay. It is fitted with a standard 16M (Meg?) memory card.

1. Is there a rule of thumb as to how many pictures I can get on there?

2. Is there a counter on the camera that will show me "space left" or anything like that?

3. Any recommendations for size/make of card if I wanted to get more pics on?

not sure on the exact file sizes or anything, but you might get 6 or 8 or so pictures on that card.

You really need something larger. Go for 256MB or 512MB. A good place to get them from is ebuyer.

Usually there's a counter, yes. It may show "8" in the top-right of the screen perhaps. See the manual.
Yes, it's really annoying the way manufacturers keep bumping up the resolution of cameras, (because resolution is a marketing point) but supply as standard, weeny little memory cards. Pc manufacturers use dto do the same - wack in the dog's cahunas of a processor, and barely sufficient RAM.

I use a 1 gig card in my camera, which means I don't have to panic to download pics.
