skates?
2 skated ---- anagram of desk at .
Certainly SKAT is hidden in the clue
1 Fall ?
yule would fit,
Yule
juːl/
noun
noun: Yule

archaic term for Christmas.
Didn't see yours donny. donny has it
It would have helped to know it was a Christmas Crossword - 'this' implies now - Autumn.

Thanks Guys, that was lightning fast.

My brain was playing tricks on me....yes it has to be Skates..!! Thanks.
The anagram suggests skated though rather than skates. I'm not sure which it is- neither seems quite right
In agreement with FF, is the clue exactly as given ?
Agree with FF, neither Skates nor Skated seems right.
If you break the clue down and the answer is "Skates", then the rest of the clue following "Bladed footwear" is redundant. If the answer is in the anagram of "...desk at...", then that makes it "Skated". If that is the case what does "...the entrance" add to the clue??
Bladed- skated
Footwear- skate and the entrance (beginning) of d(esk)
That seems to work pixie and uses all parts of the clue. So teh deskat anagram is a coincidence (there is no anagram indicator anyway)
I think so x
Thanks Pixie, that looks better. I couldn't see how "the entrance" fitted in, but I believe you've cracked it! I suspect "desk at" may be confirmation of the combined first and last parts.
But now daughter's fiance has suggested it could be an overabundance of clues that just confirm Skates, which are handed to you from behind a desk at the entrance to an ice-rink......
