What is that place in the UK that looks like a load of giant golf balls? I think it's up in the North somewhere and it is a listening station, or similar?

No amount of Googling is helping me!

Thx

know what you mean, can't think where it is though. Yorkshire?
Fylingdale?
Got to be RAF Fylingdale - the radar station near Whitby, North Yorkshire. Big white goldballs set in moorland - so not a secret station then!!
i pass this on my way to bristol from mids i think they are outside cheltenham at some government listening post

cheers
It is RAF Fylingdales, its on the North yorkshire moors on the A64, they have removed the golf balls now and put up pyramid like monstrosities, the golf balls were loads better..
mccfluff - that'll be GCHQ in Cheltenham. Didn't know they had golfballs too, but as a listening post I guess they must have something similar.
thanks ugly-bob, couldn't think of the name of it, i once told an old bf its was a giant's golf course and he believed me which was worrying!
Try near Kinross or Isle of Tiree both in Scotland by the way
I was once told that all email traffic goes through Menwith Hill...
yeah its menwith hill, a big american base. its near harrogate in north yorkshire. looks very odd!
whereabouts is it? I go up to Harrogate for work a fair bit and don't recall driving past it regularly.
ugly_bob- they are on the A59 near the junction with the B6451. I was over that way in March and saw them then.
Oh to have seen those giant golf balls on the landscape, at RAF Fylingdales...it was never the same, when they took them away...............................................................
It used to be Menwith Hill, in Yorkshire, that would probably be the one you're thinking about, and the one nr Harrogate. They've taken them down at both now though, and built what we call a 'sandcastles' instead - like this:
