I have a crap appetite. OH made me lunch knowing I'd eat if I didn't have to cook it.
Not at all rude, alba. I find that just reading recipes fills me up these days. I've been portion sizing for about 8 mths. now and my appetite has really shrunk. I've got a spagh. bol. simmering away right now and I'm already doubting my ability to eat more than a couple of spoonsful of it. :(

Mr Alba made lunch last sunday, enjoyed what I had, most tasty but couldn't finish it off (like I used to to)

J2 xx I love spag bol.
Parmesan to go on top?
Had to do the cheese thingy when all 3 albas were out of the kitchen cos they couldn't stand the aroma. Bunch of wusses lol
Just pop round here for breakfast. I'll give you what I have - a banana and a bowl full of real oatmeal porridge. None of your instant stuff - this has been gently simmered for hours. And as much coffee as you can drink. See you tomorrow ?

atalanta, that is so kind, thank you xx

Now, will a bunch of flowers from a guest to a host be sufficient?

That's the thing these days, no-one knows if the host/ess is allergic to flowers or chocolates (oh my, that's another blooming question lol)
No need for gifts if you are only coming to breakfast. Just bring lots of the juiciest gossip.
Your welcome at mine anytime, I have an appetite but can't eat (eyes are bigger than my stomach) so I cook too much and end up eating it for days if I am not careful.
Question Author
ooh, gossip, I'm sure the mutton as lamb across the road has a beau
Will need to somehow confirm that.

Islay, yep, I'll put a load on a plate and Mr Alba says, aye, good luck with that, eyes bigger again hen?
xx
Oh Alba, I can't wait to get back for my haggis and Square sausage and proper seafood and proper tablet!! Roll on November
Your hubby sounds super fussy - so unusual for a Scotsman, didn't his mammy tell him to eat all his food when he was small?
Question Author
Mr Alba tries to be fussy at times, I just rein him in lol
That's it, that's dinner, eat it or not :-D

After gawd knows how many years I think I've got his tastes down, altho sometimes I do like to surprise him !
Question Author
ooooh, tablet, now there's a sweetie I haven't had for ages, allegedly there's a village brand in my neighbourhood, will have to look out for it and send you some
(somehow!)
Oh bless you thank you. Do you know so many of the table these days has vanilla in it, my mum never put vanilla in it (she was from the East Coast).
I have tried making it but its just gloopy! So I'm not sure how my stomach will take it now but I will give it a go in November
I also love Scots Specialities - and not just Scotch.

There's a butcher in Moffat (where I usually stop for a break on my way north) - he does the best black/white puddings, haggis and Lorne sausage.

Scots bakeries are just calorific nightmares - Perth Black Bun, Nelson Squares .... aaaargh I'm hungry now ....
Selkirk Bannock too ...
Aberdeen butteries - oh my god fresh out of the bakery in Peterhead - heartburn for sure afterwards.
Yes indeed - the good thing is that the independent bakers still exist in many towns - unlike England where the ghastly Greggs bought out so many of them and promptly shut them down in favour of their blandly offensive carp

oh, help ma boab, butteries !!

Wonderful butchers in Macduff and Banff for sausages, black and white pud and tattie scones
mmmm tattie scones oh and mealey jimmies
Tattie scones fried in good bacon fat .... then served with the bacon, a nice runny fried egg & square sausage ....

Builders Tea to go wth please ...
