Why do humans seem to depend on drugs/chemicals of one type or another?
I don't think I know anyone who doesn't imbibe either stimulants or suppressants of one type or another.
Also why the double standards? I know some very anti-drug people (the 'lock them up' types) who cant do without their caffeine, some recovering alcoholics who talk about addiction when they smoke like chimneys and others who cant abide illegal drugs but will happily take tranquellisers or sleeping tabs (in some instances for years).

Interested in any views on this,
thanks.

Simples, some people are weak, they have no personal standards and are happy to be scum, their choice, not mine, and far to early for a G & T Anne,
Dear, oh dear!
Well, this thread will never recover now - thanks for the chance to add some of my thoughts though.

Says it all Baldric, some of those people I was reffering to was ex servicemen that I know personally (inc my sisters stepson)
You haven't a clue Baltic if you really believe they are " happy to be scum " as you so kindly put it. Some may not care whether they are scum or not...but there are many, many who would dearly love to be able to escape the physical and emotional pain of being in the stranglehold of needing their fix...whatever it nay be...every day.
Nailit is correct...many are ex service men.
Question Author
I Think Baldrics full of sh;;
Other servicemen I know think so different!!! Their experience is so different.
I think Baldric is a fantasist.
You waiting on someone giving you permission baldric ? :-). I much prefer communication with people who have/admit to their faults .

We have a number of Rental Properties and have in the past taken in a number of Ex Service People who needed help. We have never been let down,

///You waiting on someone giving you permission baldric ?///

Why would I need permission from you Anne, as usual you just lurk in the background and snipe?

Bit like urself then Blaldric???????

Please feel free to fill your boots during my absence, but dinner is calling.
I think this thread has run its course.

Off to get myself a glass of something stimulating. :-)

anything tasty Tills?
Just a glass of cold Pinot Grigio, Nails. Nothing special.
Oh what a pity that which was a thread being very sensibly discussed has been upended by some comments.

Let's see if we can get it upright again.

@squad 17.42. ....My GP agreed that, following on from my Blood Test, we would have a negotiating session. She has already reduced my medication from seven items down to three and I think that she is even wondering if I could survive without any medication. Personally, I think I could and would wish to prove it and she might wish me to do so. We'll know come Thursday.

Hans.
Hans....good luck.
I dunno - I dont think it is finished

I liked the thrust of -1) droogz are due to lack of moral fibre 2)- oh yeah what about PTSD in ex servicemen ? do THEY lack moral fibre
3) oops sorry my microwave just dinged off for a meal! says the landlord ex serviceman ( no PTSD for him but some of the people he knows, have it )

No one has pointed out that the extension of life span ( 20 y over the last 20 or 30 years ) has to be due to something. Better health care for all may have something to do with it.

now more specifically for Hans
" and I think that she is even wondering if I could survive without any medication. "

so he wants to do the experiment on himself of taking no drugs but knows there may be a harmful outcome ( he dies)

by contrast - I take wobbly-lol for fast heart rate and hey it goes up (heart rate) if I dont take it ( to 150)
I take the new blood thinner because I had a mini stroke and that last thing I want is to stroke out and be still alive and dependent - connected to the heart thing
and I take septrin because the doctor said if you get PCP again the survival is nil for a second attack

so could I survive without drugs ? [ being a chemotherapy survivor has rather coloured my view on that ]

oops sorry my microwave has just dinged with tea
so you will never know the answer to that !

[ oh Baldric - servicemen with problems - have you tried any ex-servicemen who are also ex-cons? I have - they are all back in prison I think]
