Marantz Hi Fi Equipment?

Hi there
I am interested in buying some decent Hi Fi equipment, at my local store they are selling a Maramtz set up that does sound really good, cd, amp and 2xB&W speakers. �500. I am new to this game and not sure if Marantz are a decent make etc...... would appreciate some input!!??

Marantz are a decent make, but I wouldn't spend that much personally. I don't mean the equipment's not worth it, I just mean in general.
But if you're looking to treat yourself, it's a respected make.

Make sure this dealer can give you a demo before you buy.
If it sounds good to your ears, then buy, but try and listen to some other alternatives first. Treat yourself to "What HiFi" magazine, and look at their suggested set ups within certain price ranges. Good luck
