Eddie, you're missing the point. The people who are complaining are not complaining because they don't understand the law. They're complaining because they think the law doesn't adequately address the crime in certain circumstances. How difficult is that to understand?

andy-hughes, a civilised country we may be but there’s a hole in your lecture.

//serves up the justice that is deemed appropriate.//

But it doesn’t – and at 17:19 Tue you agreed that it doesn’t. The punishment very often does not fit the crime - the whole point of this thread.
Question Author
As Naomi(BA), seems to have grasped the question is primarily rhetorical. Based on exasperation of the current law on these matters. Islay seems to enjoy attacking the questioner rather than enter into the spirit of what is clearly intended and Eddie is like a broken record spouting what we already know ad infinitum as if we are forbidden to question it.
Oh please where have i attacked you?
Also if you meant something else then perhaps you should have written it in a different manner - you asked a question and I answered it.
But then aren't you always, or often, banging on about wishy-washy leftie liberal judges or whatever the adjectives are? That's not really a criticism of the law then, is it?

well done Jim ! I always said you should retrain in Law and you would wipe the floor with them - ( not the usual AB suspects but the other side in court )

eddie is a broken record//
eddie is the Voice of Reason more like
and so has absolutely no place on this thread !

Hi Ed !

I prefer "opinion" to 'lecture" but never mind.

I am surprised that you have misinterpreted my point.

I was very careful to say 'what is deemed to be appropriate' - and by that, I mean deemed by the legal system.

That does not always chime with what we he concerned citizens may think is appropriate, and indeed it often doesn;t, as I pointed out.

But it is still as decided by the deciders, do the 'hole' in my point is actually not there, I am sure you will now agree.
