Not strictly money or finance, but thought I'd have better luck here than the crossworders in quizzes and puzzles!

I'm trying to figure out some exam results.Maths has NEVER been my strong point, so if someone could tell me the answers to the following (or the method of workingo out for the sticklers of 'learning by doing') I'd be much obliged.

Two assessments for each: 30% and 70%.
1) 30% = 68%
Final Mark = 72%

2) 30% = 60%
Final Mark = 68%

It's the 70% assessment marks I can't figure out.

Your question isn't clear. Why are you saying 30%=60%?

Do you mean that there are two assessments, one that's worth 30% of your final mark, and one that's worth 70%?

Sorry it wasn't clear.

I had 2 seperate modules. In both, I had to do 2 assessments, one worth 30% of the total mark for the module, one worth 70%.

Module one: My overall result was 72. On the 30% element, I got 68%.
Module two: Overall result was 68. On the 30% element, I got 60%.

It's the marks for the 70% componants I can't fathom.

If this was 50/50 I'd be fine...
I make it
1) 73.7% in the 70% element and

2) 70% in the 70% element.

68% x 3/10 = 20.4
72 - 20.4 = 51.6
51.6 x 10/7 = 73.7%

60% x 3/10 = 18
68 - 18 = 50
50 x 10/7 = 70%

I hope this is right..............

Well...it works out right, so that will do for me!
Thanks a lot.
I got 73.71 for 1) and 71.42 for 2) - Did it in my head so just a rough guess (Qantas never crash, Qantas never crash!)
