The USA is a wonderful country, with a variety of scenery (well, it's huge) and some great people. The gun laws and the politicans count against it. Burma is beautiful, but has even worse political problems. New Zealand has spectacular scenery but is spoiled by winter weather that is as bad as Britain's but without the culture to divert you.
... so I guess nowhere is perfect.
I agree - there are so many beautiful places in the world that actually look just like Scotland.
Brilliant reply, heathfield. Very much depends on whether you want the answer to refer to a place that is only to be looked at for a matter of hours at most, or somewhere that you would want to return to and live. There are lots of places which for many people would meet either criterion, some that would even meet both. But as to naming one absolute - that is an unrealistic request. In my opinion there is no such single place in the world, instead there will be several which satisfy you on both counts, each probably with some drawback neverteless. For some, myself included, the ideal is to move at will between two good places. This leaves you refreshed and content.
if I could name one place in the world which is so stunning you won't want to leave, it would be Venice. It's amazing, so surreal and breath-takingly stunning. The buildings are gorgeous, the views are beautiful, the people are extremely welcoming, and in all the place is so peaceful and romantic. My opinion on the second most beautiful place in the world would be Tuscany, again beautiful views and just an amazing place to visit or even live! I think that in general Italy is the place to go! x
Methinks the four peeps who have posted answers already need to get their bods to Canada. NOW !!!
I like Canada but it's too nippy in winter! Polar bears in the streets are a major disincentive to emigration, I'm afraid. Wonderful to visit, though; I've been there five times.
The Dominican Republic. Amazing landscape, great beaches, wonderful people. No huge gas guzzling, no-brains stuffing themselves with Maccy D's. Good honest hard working folk with no attitude. (And they prefer their sand to somebody elses).
Scotland, especially the Highlands and Outer Hebrides.
