Does anyone have a recipie for American style pancakes (eg fluffy and thick) that they are willing to share ?

I have googled but can only seem to find authentic American ones which list the ingredients in cups and seeing as how I have no idea what cup size they refer to I'm ideally looking for one with UK weights and measurements.

Thanks

It's just the same recipe as a British pancake, but with added baking powder.

Or, if you have the availability of Bisquick, it is already mixed for pancakes. I add about a quarter cup of sugar and an egg to help in browning, but it makes delicious pancakes. If Bisquick isn't avialable see if thestores have Krusteaz, (pronounced Crustease). It is excellent!
...they are called Scotch Pancakes over hear... just put that into google instead

Thanks for all your answers, thats breakfast tomorrow sorted.

Hi I use Bisquick but alwas find they are not as nice as the american pancakes. the colour seems wrong, or they seem overcooked. should they be cooked high heat and very hot ,like our pancakes or on a different slower heat.? would be grateful for any advise as I rreally fancy them tomorrow. many thanks

I used to bring over American pancake mix from Canada for my No 2 son but they do big bags of it in Costco now.

And a US recipe for the panckaes?

8 oz Flour
1 Egg
1 tb Butter/margarine, melted

5fl oz Milk
1 ts Baking powder
3 tb Sugar
 ts Salt

Sift the dry ingredients together, add the egg and mix it in until it is almost absorbed. Add the milk and mix until semi-smooth. Mix in the molten butter/margarine. It should make about 5 pancakes 7 inches in diameter. Use less sugar if you like to use a lot of syrup.

American Style Pancakes.

200g plain flour
200ml milk
2 tblsp sugar
2 tsp baking powder
2 eggs

make as usual, allowing to stand overnight in the fridge if possible. Use a ring mould for perfect circles, and even cooking. These are wonderful cooked on a bakestone if you have one. Good luck
