i am considering job in heathrow and gatwick airports, they require ( no criminal record ) but what exactky does thsi mean, i have record from 20 years ago. but i think its off and i never done more than 2 years in jail and i never have anything to do with drugs or sexual offence .

should i get basic check / standard or enhanced ?

^ As said, basic disclosure but working at an airport will almost certainly require National Security Vetting (NSV) as well as the DBS check.
It's just a Basic Disclosure
When I worked at the airports I required full security vetting - I suppose it depends on what work DD will be carrying out!
It's a Basic Disclosure for an airside pass. It can get complicated if you have lived in other countries in the last 5 years though
