/// TWR....should we really be stopping every black Britain, with a British passport, when they return to this country ? ///

Who apart from you mentioned Black British?

// Trumps idea of 'protection' was found to be illegal.//

and by all his accounts - he STILL doesnt understand why ....

I liked his exclusion of the Beeb from his news conferences on the grounds of the first amendment ( free speech )

Indeed PP. No sign of his attempting it a second time despite his 'as early as Monday, Tuesday next week' comment, which was about a month ago.

Peter Pedant, // I would have thought their computers ( erm like wiki) may know who a norwegian prime minister was//

Don’t know about the Norwegian Prime Minister, but bearing in mind my post at 10:55 perhaps their computers did bleep when Mohamed Ali’s son arrived. Who knows why they stopped him?

I wish you lot would stop the playground spat and the childish reporting.

/// There's protection...and then there is also bullying, intimidation and embarrassment for those who are entering legally. ///

Sometimes some have to suffer a little intimidation and embarrassment, in the process of finding out those who are entering legally and those who are not.

Yet again the majority suffering for the minority.
How come people are being stopped, I thought Trump had been overruled on this ??
The ban has been overruled, but Border Control is still under orders to enforce tighter security and increase 'vetting'.
I see. Surely it is right in this day and age to enforce stricter controls ?
Yes it is but holding up someone who was on their 117th visit to the USA and a Norwegian Diplomatic Passport holder is way 'over the top'. It would be obvious from a glance at the passports that these were not a threat!
But is that down to Trump?
It was Trump who issued the order to tighten security. So they are just doing what they were told.
What's the role of the ESTAs in all this? Surely they are their to weed out undesirables before they travel. On our last trip we had a potential problem at check in, we were asked for copies of our ESTAs, which we've never had, and there was a nervous few minutes when she went behind the scenes to check it. That was in the UK before we even joined a transatlantic flight! As far as TSA go we've only had positive experiences.
they cancelled my Esta while I was abroad (and planning to go to the USA before returning to the UK). That had me panicking, because there was nobody to ask about it; they'd all gone home for the weekend. Then they emailed again to say they'd changed their minds. Crazy.
Personally, I think that every little incident with US border control is making it into the news and in reality, it is nothing to do with Trump. I know airline crew who go into the States and get hauled aside because their name is the same as someone on a list of known suspects. This has been the case since 9/11. The silly thing is that after being interrogated in a side room at Immigration and being found to OK, the same thing happens the next time they go into the States and the next time.
