Whats so wrong with it?
Had a facebook feed about it. The comments range from the religious....and ridiculous... (suicide is a sin) to the humanist (sometimes its necessary to prevent suffering).
Personally I'd hope that when my time comes someone would 'off' me if I was suffering.
I find it insane that we routinely put our pets to sleep but strive to preserve human life that's coming to an end anyway, at the expense of the one that is about to die.
Unless you have been there and seen the suffering with your own eyes. Unless you've seen the pointless agony or drug induced confusion. Unless you have cried frustrated tears at the futility of a prolonged continuous existence of a tortured soul who yearns to be free of pain and seeks peace. The shoot horses don't they?
Don't think you're unique, David. It might surprise you to know that some people who oppose legalising euthanasia have 'been there'.
Personally, I've no objection to people (with or without their doctor's assistance) euthanising loved ones, just don't think the state should sanction it.
