Hi,

I am in a long-distance realtionship with my girlfreind, who lives in Stockholm, Sweden and I in Ireland. Just several days ago her mother suddenly passed away whilst on holidays in Spain. My girlfriend is inconsolable and very down. I am due to go over there in a week , but in the meantime , I have been on the phone and skype in an effort to convince here that I'm 'there' for her however its proving to be not very effective. I know that what she most needs is a hug.

Other than sending flowers does anyone have any ideas as to what i could do as a 'gesture' for her family or to cheer her up a little? Something so that she knows I'm thinking about her and will be there soon.

Many Thanks

why not send them a letter and your girlfriend letting them know you will be over very soon and to your girlfriend tell her your thinking of her and in the letter is the biggest hug ever, theres nothing really you van do until you get there,it must be hard for her but at the same time hard for you as all you want to do is be with her, just be there for her, other than that is there noway you could go over sooner that would really make it special.
you could find a local supermarket and do their weekly shopping for them online and have it delivered.
that will at least save them from having to think of trivial matters. especially stuff they may need for the wake
you could even do other stuff if you can find it through the net like getting someone to collect their washing and wash and iron it and deliver it back to them, though this may be something they do at home and they'd rather not have the bother and perhaps it may give them something to do
i guess you know them so can think of something you can organise on the net that they will really appreciate
