I tan very easily, but always use a 30 factor on my face, however, for the last couple of years of I have this skin pigmentation. Dark patches. Why is this, and can anyone help me on this one. Thanks

Aliceband I would be interested in an answer also. I do not tan easily but have two dark patches on the side of my face by my ear.they where never there before this year.
chloasma is often a sign of Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome. You may also get this marking on the insides of your thighs. Ask your GP for a test especially if you suffer from irregular periods, are overweight, hirsuite or have acne. Obviously as its a syndrome you dont have to be suffering from all of these symptoms.
I had this on my face, especially badly on the sides and my forehead when I was taking the Pill - it went very dark during the summer despite using a high factor suncream. I was told by my doctor that it was an hormonal effect which was enhanced by the Pill. Once I stopped taking the Pill the pigmentational began to fade - taking about 6 months to go altogether.
Hope this helps - I know how you feel.
