By the way, I also had a Meccano set when I was about 7-8. I played and played with that, until the paint come off !

To be honest, I am now 63 and if I still had that Meccano, I would still be playing with it now !

My parents could only afford the smallest set, the No. One ( from Hamleys, as I recall ) but my mate a few doors away had the bigger, No. Two set, so we could combine them together and make ,ore of the bigger, more complex things that came in the magazine !

Happy days indeed !
Slightly off track but I have not seen one toy that 'stands out' this year. All very much run of the mill. I have 12 grandchildren so I do take an interest .
I also despair at the number of toys that involve 'bogies/snot/poo'
I mean a toy that involves trying to pick the biggest 'bogie' out of a doll's nose or catch the most dog poo!
I got a vintage Meccano No2 set from a charity shop for £1.99 and sold it on eBay for £12 within an hour!
Mikey, yes they still do book vouchers. I'd get them, too.
I have two step granddaughters who get all the latest things. Like your great-nephew, they rip off the paper and move on to the next thing. Too much stuff.

Eddie....I have a look on ebay and there are loads of vintage stuff available !
^ I still hope to find one of the original Meccano sets in the 3 draw wooden chest the largest one made. They go for £ thousands now!
