I was watching houses under the hammer this morning and a woman bought a run down house and then tidied it up. She ripped all the kitchen units out but left the kitchen sink to make it "mortgagable". I don't understand this, can anyone explain.

Thanks

Hi sair,

I think the reason is, if you leave a sink unit or sink in you have a kitchen,if it is stripped completely tou have a room, building socities etc, like to have a kitchen daft isn't it.

Property has to be 'habitable' and if the sink is there - you can live in it is one reason. ie there is a source of potable water. Rest of the place might be a building site though . . . .
