My elderly neighbour believes there is a gadget that you can attach to a waste water pipe to enable you to use bath water to water the garden. I have never heard of it but I said I would post a question. Yesterday it took her the best part of two hours walking up and downstairs with full buckets from the bath. She is in her eighties!

i think that would be to divert rainwater from a downpipe into a water butt.

waste water from the bath goes directly into the soil pipe (usually inside the house) and cannot be easily diverted
Here is an alternative.

nd this might do too - http://www.droughtbuster.co.uk/ just fit a clamp on to one end in a bucket if you wanted to control the flow and start the emptying of the bath into containers in the garden - probably easiest if your neeb got a butt and then she could fill each time the bath was used without worrying about watching when the bath was ready etc., and then fill a watering can whenever she wanted to.

Mind its not ideal to water vegetables with 'grey water' - possible contamination of the foodstuffs from chemicals in the water form detergents etc.

I think if I was to do this I would not want to use any of these gadgets - something a little more permanent and easy to use would have to be the way forward
Sorry completely non related, just had to say Hi to my namesake

Hello Happy_Face how are you?

Here is an answer for you try www.banbeater.co.uk it is a very simple device, and will empty a bath in minutes. The nice thing about this is that once you have put the pickup head in the bath, everything is done from downstairs in the garden. It seems like a great invention, I have ordered one and am waiting to see.
