Over stayed in the car park at Morrisons Reading and got a ticket for £50 for our trouble. We spent over £90 in all there already.

Won't be stopping over time there again so the system works

///OH will just pay it.///

Cassa, no wish whatsoever to offend, but, 'more money than sense' comes to mind.'
Taking a gamble not paying if the ticket is lawful - eg, proper notices, licensed company, correct facts on invoice.

More and more private parking companies are taking people to court and winning - costing a lot more.
How long was it altogether, cassa and what was the time limit (usually 2 hours)?
You've nothing at all to lose by taking your till receipt and parking notice to Morrison's Help Desk and telling them your story.
There was probably a sign as you drove in telling you that you have 2 hours free parking and anything over that would be charged for.

It doesn't matter how much you spend in the store. The car park is run by a different company.
Friend had a similar situation in local Dunhelm car park. Pointed out she'd been taking her aged mother and auntie round the store and into the café, was asked to show receipts to prove the time and fine was then waived.
Cassa....go back the store and demand to see the Manager.....not some little gobshite but the Real Manager. Complain like billyo !

Let us know the result please !
That's terrible hope you get sorted we are lucky were we live free parking at our local shopping centres Tescos Sainsbury's Asda Marks Spencer's
I think you will find that Morrisons don't own the car park but have use of it for their customers.There are probably signs around the car park setting out conditions of use, etc.
I don't know the particular store but it sounds similar to one, in Leeds, where my wife received an invoice for overstaying the two hours free parking - it turned out their ticket machine was at fault and when she sent them a copy of her receipt ticket which showed she hadn't overstayed they drop their claim (and it was the parking company mentioned earlier on this thread).
We use that particular store sometimes and I can't say that I've noticed the notice.
