A memo leaked to the Times suggests the Government has 'No Plan' for Brexit and a Negotiating Stretegy will take 30,000 extra staff, 6 months to come up with one.
As suspected, it is an Omnishambles.

Gromit....to be fair to the LEAVE camp....its never been done before, and its nothing like as easy as it was made out to be. Thousands of laws, rules and regulations to be coped with.
//who doesn't plan for a worse case scenario? Especially when there are only two scenarios.//

Well... where is it? It can't just be something Cameron scribbled on the back of an envelope and took with him when he left.
The plan is simple really. All those who wished to remain with Europe to go & live in Europe & all those who are left here will be true Britishers.

Mikey,
We have not flown astronauts to Mars yet, but we have a pretty good idea of how to do it.
Surely there is a Brexit Manual somewhere in the EU library, Has anyone looked for it?
Jno - patience! There will be all sorts going on behind the scenes.

It's like debating a Trial when only a few people in the room really know what is going on. It will all come good in the end..

o:)
Welcome to the hotel california, you can never leave.
" all sorts going on behind the screens "". Yes panic :-)
I shouldn't think all those employed within the government that deal with the EU and all its raft of rules, regulations and dictates can just nip over to dealing with the EU disentangleing project when we are out?

At least they know the names of everyone over there and how the system works :)
jno, //Well... where is it? //

I hesitate to suggest this but it’s just possible that ABers aren’t privy to the government's intentions.

Incidentally according to the news, the memo came from a firm of accountants who have no authority to comment on the matter so nothing more than a big wooden spoon perhaps.
Last week I posted a comment about the staff needed being dug out from other departments where they were considered useless. The info came from an aide to a Minister.

My comment was mocked by youngmafbog.

Now we have further proof.
Playbill, proof of what? This isn't an official document.
Is we going or is we ain't ?
Must just be a coincidence that part of what I was told last week has suddenly been 'leaked' to a newspaper. As we have discovered over the years, 'leaks' are another way for politicians to subtly release information.
"...just what the brex addicts wanted: thousands more civil servants and bigger government"

IF it needs 30,000 more scribes (a big "if", hence the capitals) and assuming it costs an average of £50k per annum to employ each one, then at £1.5bn per year compared to the £10bn we lose as a result of membership, I would consider it very good value indeed. (And of course the spend will only be needed whilst our negotiations and withdrawal are in progress, not forevermore as the contributions would be).

But I'm still yawning. As with the referendum debate before the vote this is becoming extremely tiresome. People who say Brexit will never happen and those who say it should happen tomorrow are at the opposite ends of a very broad spectrum. Nobody in government or opposition (the Labour Party, that is) has suggested it will never happen. Just because it's said to be hard and just because it is said there is no plan does not mean very much. My own view is that it will happen, A50 will probably be triggered before next summer and our withdrawal will be completed a good bit before 2020. My view is, of course, pure speculation as is everybody else's.
But I've never been one to suggest that something cannot or should not be done because it is not easy or straightforward. Very often the greatest advantages are gained by doing something that is a little difficult.
A leaked mail from a consultant saying 30 000 more staff.

Sounds like a company setting the stall for more profit to me.

I doubt any consultant is privy to anything that is going on just like we are not although judging by the comments on here you would think half of AB are working closley with the Tories Brexit plan.

And as for having no plan before just what do people expect? Whether we have a 'soft' 'medium boiled' or fried BREXIT there will be things to work out with the EU. Think of it like taking a slice of pizza, you take a slice which is the main and easy bit but there are all those stringy bits you have to deal with that takes time to separate.

Anyone who has worked in business to bring on board a part of another company will know that. You have to work slowly and clearly to ensure nothing is forgotten or you end up in a right mess. It is never easy though as I know from my own experiences.

The other thing many on here seem to forget is that there are two parties; us and the EU. A plan needs to be agreed by BOTH sides.
YMB > Whether we have a 'soft' 'medium boiled' or fried BREXIT...

Forget all that, we want a FULL ENGLISH!! scoff scoff
