Edinburgh also has a pub called Jekyll and Hyde - simallar to Frankensteins, the Brass Monkey - where you can lounge in their back-room and watch films, Bannamans - which is good for live music and many, many more. As for things to do - why not try the Edinburgh Festival. It runs in August and is the biggest Arts Fest in the world. I think. I didn't find the ghost walk v.scary myself (I was a bit tiddly at the time and wanted to sleep) but some mates of mine thought it was absolutely terrifying. Auld Reekie are meant to be the best for this...And if you fancy something a bit more energetic, the view from Calton Hill is well worth the climb.

thanks very much for your tips. i might see about going to the festival next year, its something ive always thought about going to!

i like the sound of the jekyll & hyde pub so will probably give that a try too!
I've been the last 5 or 6 years and always REALLY enjoyed it!!

And the walks by Adam Lyall, Deceased. are good fun - especially if you get on one with a bunch of Japanese students - very easy to scare...;

the Britannia at Leith is worth a look; have a go at the literary tours as well - take you round the old pubs with sriters associations - remember the one you like and go back as and when.; do the 'Trainspotting' Tour in Leith as well; climb Arthurs Seat - with a bottle or two and chill out for a bit; go to a concert in the Castle esplanade.

Link to the fringe festival - http://www.edfringe.com/ loads of info and http://www.edinburgh.org/ for the city website - whats on pages all year round.

Take the train to Glasgow and have a look round; trip out to Queensferry and the Forth Rail bridge - drinks at the Hawes Inn - famous for 'Kidnapped' by RLS, fave son of the city. Come at Hogmany for the fireworks. Do the Tattoo in August, and catch the acts in the International festival for some culture.

Tons to do, lots of choices ....and don't forget the right money for the bus.......and if you come in August, make sure oyu book accommodation really early - prices get hiked and the avialability is limited.
