Blurry Games On Windows 7 Professional

We have bought a reconditioned laptop for the sole purpose of putting games on for my mum. I have downloaded these but they are so blurred.
The resolution is 1280/800 (whatever this means !!) Is there any way we can solve this pls ?

Perhaps the graphics card is down ozzy and the lappie has asked for an external one after lagra ran a few checks. Getting a bit tech now without hands on and lagra fesses up that the techie bits are a bit off limits.

That's why I reckon take it back. If it's re-furbished there should be a limited warranty of some sort.

Without the device in front of oneself it's hard to know what's happening or not.

Without some sort of tech knowledge I feel the OP will struggle.
