I saw a couple of spammers on your 'Small business query' thread.
It broke Site Rules.
Could be spam, could be rudeness. Unfortunately, I usually see the "answer removed" post before I've seen the original post.

Sometimes, I read a thread and go back to it later and see the "answer removed" tag. I have no recollection of anything dodgy in most cases.
'Answer removed' will appear automatically if the poster is later banned (as all of their posts are removed from the site).

It will also appear if the Ed or a moderator decided that an individual post was offensive or otherwise inappropriate.

Further, some moderators (including me) like to 'tidy up' threads after a post has been removed. For example, member A might post something offensive, resulting in members B, C and D immediately responding with posts such as "That's disgusting!", "Grow up, you idiot!" and so on. When I remove the post from A, I also remove the responses from B, C & D as well, as they no longer make any sense in the absence of the post which spawned them.
It could be because the poster has been removed from the site for some breach of the Site Rules. It could be that it has nothing to do with your post.
Answers that have been removed have been deemed to be against the Site Rules.
They will either have been reported, or a passing view from the editor or a site moderator may caused their removal.
Trying to find out why a post is removed, or publicly arguing about it is also against the Site Rules and may result in that post being removed too.
Site Rules and guidelines are here:

If you don't like the rules, tough. The terms and conditions can be found here:

In short, until you pay to host this site you have to read the manual first and no-one is going to bend to fit your thoughts on how it should be run :)

Question Author
Thank you all, I had never seen the answer removed comment before so my question was general rather than just for this specific post. Apologies I didn't know my question was against Site Rules, I must have forgotten rule !
Chasingcars, you've been around for years. You must have seen those "answer removed" before.
Don't worry Chasingcars, we've all done it :)
PS:

Thanks for your post.

An indirect chain of thought emanating from it reminded me that I'd suspended someone three weeks ago, whom I'd only meant to block from posting for a week or two. So I've now, somewhat belatedly, reactivated his account!
Chris that’s so funny.....I am glad that you don’t have to keep them fed and watered.
yeah I noticed that you were attracting a lot of spam
Luke L has one remaining post and they were all like that

another fave besides the teentsie lengthening ones in Russian
are a question - where can I learn accountancy in Bombay ?

That particular member wouldn't be short of anything to eat. He could feast on all of the Spam that he was posting across the crossword threads ;-)
Chris. Have you " forgotten"anyone else ? :-)
Almost certainly not, Anne, simply because I can't recall ever suspending anyone else!

(I often ban loads of spammers in a single day, and I remove a few individual posts now and then, but I can't ever recall having used the 'Suspend' button before that one occasion).
All the ones in Russian are adverts and they're not even in good Russian at that.
Anything in Business & Finance from a new member using a 'forename+surname' username is instantly suspect too, JD33, especially if it appears in the early hours of the morning, with the question title having absolutely nothing to do with either business or finance!

The use of 'Asian English' (especially "please suggest me") in a question from a new member is also usually a precursor to a 'helpful' post, also from a new member, who just happens to know of something which exactly matches the requirements of the questioner!
You can suspend people ??
Have you forgotten svejk and retrocop?
