What happens if you buy a CD, it contributes to the chart and then you decide to take it back? Does it make a difference if you take it back, say, a week after?

Shouldn't think a single CD return would make a dent in the sales figures - however, if you could persuade a few thousand mates to rush out and buy the same CD and return it simultaneously... that would be an interesting experiment.

I remember reading in NME some time ago that the fastest selling "second hand" album was Oasis's 3rd installment... i wondered then how it was calculated!!
