What could they possibly be inquiring about? Both sides contributed to the whole period of confrontation. What could be served by digging up a single skirmish from 32 years ago?

not per se Mikey but what are they actually going to be able to uncover? what its it about? The Hillsborough just had inquiries until the "correct" result was given, is this one going to be the same?
TTT - //What could they possibly be inquiring about? //

The could be enquiring about the fact that the same force that was exposed after the Hillsborough Enquiry, and found to have systematically lied and fabricated evidence in court - has done exactly the same thing after Orgreave.

It is clear that some officers perjured themselves, and that cannot be allowed to be left simply because of the passage of time.

//What could be served by digging up a single skirmish from 32 years ago? //

Justice - nothing more or less than justice.

Can I ask the powers that be ... when is it jusified to call someone an idiot?

Your use of inverted commas implies that you think that the Hillsborough Enquiry result was not valid - is that your position?
TTT....you are correct in that the Hillsborough Inquiry eventually gave the correct verdict, although the tone of your post rather implies that you didn't agree with it.

In fact if I recall correctly, and I may be wrong here, but you didn't believe in the verdict at the time.

There is now no doubt whatsoever about the reasons for the Hillsborough disaster, and that is directly because of the new Inquiry. If that hadn't occurred, then the truth would never have come out.

Job well done if you ask me.

what though Andy, are there deaths? arrests? prosecutions? what? As far as I can tell the miners clashed with the old bill and that was the end of it.
I witnessed all the trouble at the time..dad was a NCB official...there were faults on BOTH sides..not least of all the flying pickets and other thugs PRETENDING to be striking miners......time to let go and move on...
TTT...answer the question !

Do you think that the verdicts in the Hillsborough Inquiry were correct ?
The old bill (South Yorkshire Police) produced false statements

Fact!
Talbot....if that is indeed true, then we have no alternative to an Inquiry
TTT - //As far as I can tell the miners clashed with the old bill and that was the end of it. //

The I suggest that you are not seeing far enough, because this is clearly not the end of it.

To suggest that the police fabricated evidence, and officers perjured themselves in court, and we should simply forget all about it because it was all a long time ago, makes a mockery of the justice system, and the rights of everyone involved to know the truth of what went on then, and afterwards.
Andy...well said !
The enquiry should go further than what happened at Orgreave.
What is more important than a full examination of facts and justice seen to be done?

Hillsborough proved that time is no barrier to justice.Similarly, the Bloody Sunday Enquiry resulted in David Cameron in making an unreserved apology in 2010 following Tony Blair's decision to allow the Enquiry to proceed.

People with narrow minds and those willing to close the door is the antithesis of the principles of reason and justice.
