It's about time this whole system was placed in the dustbin of history.I was caastigated on AB for complaining about the knighthood for Rod Stewart but the argument over the merit's of his award pales into insignificance with Dave's abuse of the resignation honour's system.

I continually fail to understand why everyone is so upset and angry about Cameron's awards.

As I have said before, PM's obtain and maintain their position by large amounts of chicanery, backroom dealing, promising, crawling, licking and generally getting down in the dirt of the political system.

Once they go, and are untouchable, it's payback time for all the help they have had - and in Cameron's case, an excellent chance to stick it to the electorate who binned his 'Remain' ambitions and made him leave his job.

I really can't see what the problem is.

Since the days of Lloyd George, who quoted a set fee for knighthoods and peerages, the 'honours' system has been a venal corrupt egotistical nonsense - why should this year be any different.

The system should be scrapped, and honours chosen and bestowed by the sovereign.
