Yes, there have been at least *some* positives to Brexit in seeing that slimy git vanish from front-line politics!

At the moment the single biggest boost to the UK's economy post-referendum has been the rapid transition to May's government, as opposed to the expected drawn-out leadership contest with Leadsom. At least now we can get on with things -- it will be interesting to see what Johnson, Davis and Fox come up with in their plans for Brexit. At any rate, I suspect that while the markets are waiting for this things will tick along fairly smoothly. Well, until Trump gets elected anyway (which will crash markets by 10% in a day or so, I shouldn't wonder).
This article look particularly premature after figures released today suggested that the economic impact lasted through most of the last month and has sent several key indicators of economic strength to seven-year lows.

For some reason, the Express hasn't reported that story, so I'll stick with the Telegraph one:

http://www.telegraph.co.uk/business/2016/07/22/ftse-100-slides-but-pound-gains-ahead-of-uk-manufacturing-and-se/

http://www.reuters.com/article/us-britain-eu-economy-idUSKCN1020UX

Again, for sure this is still potentially only a short-term thing but the simple truth is that the Express is selling massive "it's all fine, really, even though parts of the house are on fire" propaganda. Hopefully the negative effects won't last, but pretending they haven't happened at all is crazy.

Twas ever thus.

Any national paper that has put its weight behind either side of the campaign is going to big up the results that appear to justify its support, and carefully ignore the bits that contradict.

The Mail - a huge 'Exit' supporter - will be doing exactly the same over the coming weeks and months.
