The choices did include '1940'.
It was 1940 - 1941 was not one of the choices.

Typo on my part...1940 it was.

But he professed not to know who was in the battle, which was my point. He has managed to get well into his adult life without knowing that we were at war with Germany on all three of those dates.

From recall, he hadn't heard of Ian Botham either.
Such snobbery and high browed posts do make me laugh.
I don't think knowing who Ian Botham is represents a level of knowledge - doubt either of my adult daughters would have much of a clue.

Eccles and Talbot...the young man in question looked to be in his mid-20's and was British.

What possible excuse could he have for not knowing what country Britain was at war with during those three options ?
