Notice next time everyone is toasting the New Year, swaying around, oblivious to the tears and beers sloshing all over fellow revellers' outfits, and observe that almost no-one can sing all the words correctly! Even a lot of Scots don't know the proper words, but they do make sure to sing Syne with a soft 's', and not 'Zyne' as we English tend to say. The title translates as "For old times' sake."
