Isn't there a test which you can take 4 days before your period is due?

haha!!

If I was to have another baby that would have to be the man to father my child. His perfect teeth, my eyes, my nose and his dimples, lush!! Haire we are matched evenly his for a boy, mine for a girl.

Ermm... its not the test, my friends pregnancy is confirmed, she needs to know when she concieved. Not likely but precisely,

Yes about 4 days before, though it's only about 75% accurate at that point. However, bear in mind you can't get false positives - i.e. if it says you're pregnant, you are - though it's early days and quite a high number of these prenancies will fail and the tiny ball of cells be passed from the body unnoticed so that many women do not realise they were pregnant.
Sorry; was obviously writing mine whilst goodsoulette's answer was being posted. Well, it's dated from the last known period. That's about it. The first time they know for sure that that is an accurate date to use is when they do the first scan.

I am going to have to make myself clearer. My friend knows she is pregnant. she is however not sure of when she conceived, this she really needs to know. To rule out possibilities, Can this be done at a scan at the epc? (early pregnancy clinic)
Question Author
cool thats what I thought. So can they give her a pretty precise date from an early scan?
Yes, because they know when the various features of the fetus develop, but it won't be until about 12 weeks-ish.
Question Author
Ok waldo but say she goes for an abortion they scan then, so that could technically be aroun 5-7 weeks. Could they tell her then??
I don't know. That's outside anything I know about, but I presume so - the features develop at a set rate, so presumably you can see.
Question Author
i think we should just turn bright pink or something when we become pregnant that would make things easier.

Waldo is right,

The first few weeks of pregnancy are only known by the date of last period. They then get adjusted by first scan which is usually arranged for around 12 weeks.

for example if the first day of last period was say the 1st May today would be 4weeks plus 3 days pregnant.

An early scan is given in cases of previous miscarriages or if a miscarriage is threatened because not much can be seen on an early scan.

The 12 week scan still wont give the date of conception though. A baby is usually conceived when a woman is approx 2 weeks into her cycle (14 days from first day of last period). so the date given on the scan is still likely to be 2 weeks out.

If your friend is worried about when the baby was conceived, to the point where she would consider an abortion then i suggest that goes to a clinic immediately to discuss her fears. They may have other ways of finding out but at best i still think they could only get it as close as a few days because of the length of time sperm can survive before joing and egg.

thats should read 'joining an egg'
