Just noticed in the TV guide that The Good Old Days presented by Leonard Sachs from the stage of the City Varieties Theatre in Leeds is on BBC4 at 8pm tonight. Originally shown on 17/01/75 and Ken Dodd is on the bill. Used to love watching this show. Might give it a look just for old times sake.

Hope you have a copacetic, eximious, lallapalooza of a time (as Leonard Sahs might say).

i used to think that if leonard sachs wasn't so garrulous there would have been time for another act

We thoroughly enjoyed it last week. Maybe it's time to bring it back? Many people will never have seen it.
alemp. As a youngster, I enlarged my vocabulary considerably by listening to Leonard Sachs!
hc (and everyone) I withdraw my comment unconditionally. My recall was that his preference was for children but I see now that i was wrong.
I was scared though OG and it was a regular occurrence. I don't recall when this used to be on but feel I was only about 12 although memories may be playing tricks.

Did not enjoy it as much as I thought I would but it was over 40 years old. Better to keep the memories and not be disappointed.
Maybe Ken Dodd's getting too old now for live shows. You'll have to let us know maggie. I've split my sides laughing at him many times in the past at live shows.
