"Que Sera, Sera"
as I suspect my opinion will make no difference whatsoever.
if outraged by editorial tyranny, you could always vote for "ABexit", Baldric?
I find difficulty is taking in and process information. I tried reading all the thread but couldn't work out what was happening. What 'is' happening?

Is there no way that AB people can raise funds for the site without doing much and in return we can get changes to the site that we want.

I know that it is possible to raise money for charity by using some search engines. There has to be something else.

I am off for a nap as my eyes are not focusing and I am knackered.

I shall return - maybe

Exactly where did I say that then jno?
Why do you think your opinion doesn't count, Baldric?
I do not like it at all
you didn't say it, Baldric, and I didn't say you said it; but you implied it when claiming that, though you'd been specifically asked for an opinion, you thought it would make no difference. Why do you suppose the Ed asks for opinions he's going to ignore, when he could be having a more relaxing time sitting in the sun with a nice glass of liebfraumilch?
I'm with Jordy way too technical for me.

///Why do you suppose the Ed asks for opinions///

because AB is a Business, the responses can be milked for good ideas to incorporate in the new site and the negatives most likely ignored.
I don't do technical talk very well, but added a comment - nice to be asked one's opinion.
I definitely would not be happy with the change. Would not be able to cope with it.
If it ain't broke don't fix it.
Caran, the Ed says it is indeed broke; people have trouble with the site on tablets and mobiles, so they don't come back.
It is broke, Caran. The AB team need to develop a site that is compatible on all devices from desktop computers to smartphones and everything in between and the current format isn't working.

It can be done to a high standard and work very well. I am absolutely positive the new site will be as easy to use as this one and after a very short time nobody will be able to remember what this site was like.
I wonder if there will be (a time scale ) for completion of any changes ??
Sorry but I don't understand any of it. Keep the old desktop, I like it.
It works fine for me on phone, tablet and laptop. The only issue is my typing. Don't forget what happened to Friends Reunited, once they changed it all, we all got confused and it sank without a trace.
There are 2 distinct purposes it seems, one to increase functionality on all devices the other to change the whole appearance (the cynic in me would say to increase advert space). First I understand but the second doesn't impact on the first, second I don't like.
Very democratic to ask our opinion but it will happen anyway.
