Are they crowded together? When they grow spindly, they are usually searching for light. 2 seeds per pot and weed out the weaker. Turn the pots so they get even light and put in the lightest spot you have that they don't have to grow high to reach light (windowcills are good).

A much more professional gardener than I will probably give you chapter and verse. You may need more compost than you are allowing as well.
You don't say whether you have them in pots, indoors, a greenhouse or whatever interele. There are many causes of the stress, such as inconsistent water/feeding, inconsistent sunlight, and/or poor soil conditions and pests.
I would be here typing for an hour if I tried to cover all the reasons or remedies but this site gives a good set of guidelines. Tomatoes can be a frustration for the best of gardeners. Good luck. I have in the past had to again.

I put 3 or 4 in a pot and in a propagator. The once
they are about an inch tall I put them in the porch
Once they are about 3 inches they go into a ( I don't
know what they are called ) green plastic covered
wardrobe like thing in the garden and into individual pots
They all grow and produce fruit but they are never as sturdy
or as bushy as the garden centre ones
If you look at the web link I posted you will see that they need 6 - 8 hours of direct sunlight daily. One a pot would help. The link tells you how to recover them by pinching out etc.

I agree with others.
Sounds like they are not getting enough light and possibly too close together.
Forced too quickly (too much heat).
