I loved "bet you look good on the dance floor" but felt like the album was way overhyped and couldnt possibly live up to how good everyone said it was. So despite the fact that I probably buy 5-6 cds a week i didnt buy it. I even bought fall out boy first. So today I caved in bought it and its freaking brilliant. Truely flipping brilliant. I have been bopping like a robot from 1984.

HOW many CD's per week???
Question Author
5 to 6?? was that not clear. Its normally one or 2 from the chart and then a bunch from the so many for 20 or 30 quid section.

You're absolutely right it's brilliant.....In my opinion they're without doubt the best thing to happen to British music since Oasis.....

The best bands, the best books, the best films, they all get talked about. Or in other words they generate hype. The hype that surrounded the Arctics was HUGE, but they deserve it. They're just outa short pants yet they're outstandingly good lyricists, musicians, performers and entertainers. I've seen them live and the atmosphere at their gigs is up there with anything I've seen. And I've been listening to them for a long while too, long before the hype, yet their album is still in my car CDplayer as we speak. Other albums come and go, and far too many albums these days are forgettable and throwaway. This one is the exact opposite and this is a debut album from a band with an average age of about 20. Imagine what they could be putting out in 5-10 years it's scary...... Lets just hope nothin splits em up cos these fellas have the potential to be here when fallout boy are nothin but a distant memory!!!

The thing about hype is, it doesn't just materialise out of nowhere for random reasons, something special has to generate it. You don't see that type of hype very often, and when you do, its usually deserved yet you will always get the backlash of people who refuse to jump on the bandwagon and won't even give it the chance.

Goodsoulette, Welcome to the Arctic Monkeys Bandwagon!!!!!!!!!!

By the way, grab yourself a copy of their EP "Who the f*** are Arctic Monkeys" Couple more good tracks on there.....and theres loads of early demos and BSides to be found on the wonderful web.......
Gone and forgotten about within 2 years.

The boys from High Green done good.

got the ep thanks northy thru a buddy of mine.... I have to say though I always thought Blur were better than Oasis but I think that had a lot to do with the fact that the gallagher brothers are a pair of nobjockeys

Artic Monkeys is simply music 4 s1uts. Simple as that.

Wardminter - what kinda childish brain-dead comment is that?

Goodsoulette, i kinda agree with ya, but only about one of the Gallaghers - Liam - Total c0ckh3ad, but his big bro Noel is a musical genius in my book. While his brother swanned around the place making a total tit of himself, Noel was ferretting away penning classic after classic and carrying the rest of Oasis. It seems Liam is pulling his finger out wth a few songwriting duties these days but he'll always be a tool.

Craig007 - There is absolutely no way that Arctic Monkeys will be forgotten about in 2 years. So long as they're all still alive, still together and making music, they'll be selling albums for years. And even if they do split, songwriters like Alex Turner don't just fade away. Look at Richard Ashcroft. a decade after the Verve, and he's still around releasing quality material. Alex turner is what, 21? And already getting critical acclaim for his ability. All these people praising em and buying their music can't all be wrong now can they???? Have you actually given their album a fair hearing?????

I liked arctic monkeys for a while, I even got their album. I haven't listened to it for ages, and I now prefer fellow Sheffielders 'Little Man Tate'
Question Author

Northy, you are right there. I always prefer the oasis songs that Noel sings too. The north and manchester especially, do seem to produce the best music around.
