Are you as furious as these Daily Express readers at M&S' decision to stock bathing apparel for Muslim women?

Would it affect your decision as to whether or not to shop there?

There's a large range of modest swimwear on sale, lots of it prettier and more stylish than M&S's offering , whether for religious reasons or simply to cover up more.
what are you gonna do about men in wet suits ?
stone or shoot them ?
Available in a range of super-Islamic colours:-

Black
Cheval Noire
Moonless Midnight
Coalmine Fermeé
Taxi de Londre
Schwartz
Photons' Doom
Event Horizon

(With apologies for substantial plagiarism).

If I saw those swimsuits in my local M&s it wouldn't make me turn and walk out.
Didn't Nigella wear a similar thing not so long ago? I think women should be able to cover up as much as they wish, within reason. I don't like to see women totally hidden in black in this country. The swimsuits are ok, though. I might get one.
Feeling the need to choose to hide oneself is not progress.
i witnessed a fully veiled mother attempt to eat dinner in a restaurant recently, not entirely successfully - trying to post food through an aperture in a black cloth can't be easy, and a proportion of it went down her front, leaving rather visible orange stains. but the expression on the face of her teenage son was an absolute picture of embarrassed sullen youth, who definitely didn't want to be there......
Would they protect the wearer from harmful solar radiation?
balders..we all know you don't get your budgies there..lol
//naomi, I know a lot of Muslim women and some CHOOSE to cover up. //

Indeed - so no reason to think about those who have no choice. We can ignore them. Let's just demonstrate how wonderfully liberally minded we are by playing happily along with their oppressors.
They can sell what they like, market forces will dominate.

Of course sometimes the right-on forget that many can be offended by such apparel, but then of course a white westerner being offended is at the bottom of the list to a hand-wringing yogurt knitter.

Will I shop there? No I have not set foot in a M+S since they refused to take my credit card as they would only accept their own store card. And yes I do hold grudges for a long time.
//naomi, I know a lot of Muslim women and some CHOOSE to cover up. //

Of course what you dont know is the real reason why they CHOOSE to cover up do you?

Most likely because they are subserviant to the man of their life or his religion. There is no place for that in the UK.
All the big supermarkets sell Halal meat so I presume the objectors will boycott them as well and go hungry. I object to smoking but I do not advocate boycotting shops that sell tobacco! Then of course they will have to boycott all the shops run by Muslims leaving very little choice of where to shop!
Absolutely amazing how some can be so accepting when it is anything regarding the Islamic faith.

I presume their posts would be a lot less tolerant, if the mode of dress had anything to do with the Christian faith i.e. walking about in dresses and silly hats etc.
I don't understand why anyone would be upset at the M & S clothing department selling these items - as advised, no-one is obliged to purchase them.

I would never boycott a shop for selling what people want to buy - obviously within reason.

I would protest though - I wrote a stinking letter to BHS a few years ago when their Christmas range included men's' slippers with the word 'Old' and 'Git' printed on each, which I thought was a horrible message to send to anyone at any time of year. They were withdrawn a couple of weeks after my letter, and have not re-appeared.
I have no issue with it.

What worries me is the comments below the item, one (which I have reported as inappropriate) calls for all M&S stores to be immediately 'firebombed' as retaliation !!
I'm not exactly "beach-ready" under any circumstances. I'd be happy to dress modestly in something other than a 4mm wetsuit, which our local pool takes a dim view of......
I can't see it makes any difference to anybody if M+S do sell these. If people want to buy them, they will.

I stopped buying my smalls in M+S when I found out that Tesco sell as good for a lot less money.
I applaud OG's post at 23:02 Sunday.
I used to walk on Trinity Sunday , carrying the Ribbons on the banner for St Edmund's RC Church wearing a silly dress and hat....

Ah you have a point , the press photos are pretty bad.

Seriously 'Many can be offended by this such apparel' - really a lady in a modest swimming outfit?
