27 years on and the bounty is raised. What would Mr Rushdie make of this news?

In line with inflation, perhaps.
Question Author
Keyplus, have you read Satanic Verses?
I have asked on here several times how a Muslim can know that there are not more 'Satanic Verses' hiding in the Quran?
The story as most of us know is that Allah dictated the Quran to Muhammad who wrote down what he heard. However on one occasion Satan impersonated Allah so perfectly that Muhammad was he was fooled into writing down the 'Satanic Verses'
My unanswered question is 'If Satan was so good at impersonating Allah, how can we be sure that this was the only occasion on which it happened?'
Of course the only response to such questions is to either ignore them or kill the person who dares to ask! That is what this fatwa is about! Rushdie dared to ask the question. I expect a fatwa to be issued against me any time now.
EDDIE51, The angel Gabriel dictated the Koran to Mohammed... allegedly. The controversial verses commonly known as the Satanic verses, which are no more, related to the acceptance of intercessory prayers to other gods which at the time would have suited the locals just fine and assisted that wily, warmongering old merchant, Mohammed, in his quest for power.

Keyplus, you know the story. Let's not pretend.
naomi, every time I have heard the story Allah spoke directly to Muhammad who had the gift of a perfect memory. He remembered what Allah had dictated and wrote it down , no intermediaries were needed just Allah and Muhammad one on one.
Eddie, I think you're mistaken.
Perhaps keyplus is nonplussed. Direct question ag.
Togo, I think his response is to me.

I said //the title of that book emanates from, to say the least, curious origins. //

Touchy subject. ;o)
naomi you are correct, I am wrong

But that to me means it would be even easier for some false verses to be in the Quran, as there were intermediaries,Gabriel and the scribes ! Not one to one as I thought.
Eddie, we can’t take seriously the claim that anyone, least of all a supernatural entity, dictated the Koran to Mohammed. It was all his own work constructed over a period of 23 years and sourced from Judaism and Christianity, each of which he had a sound knowledge of. The ‘Satanic verses’ (later conveniently deemed to be a trick of the Devil and removed) were specifically designed by him to ingratiate himself to pagan tribesmen in order to bring them to his newly founded religion. Far from being the ignorant, illiterate man he is claimed to be, Mohammed was knowledgeable, he was clever, and he was crafty.
Naomi ,I know that as well as you do. But trying to get that through to a Muslim cleric is asking to have your head cut off.
Could be.
keyplus - the concept of inflation does not exist in Islam, and especially percentage increases.........
