Most shampoo instructs that we should wash then rinse then repeat. Is there any benefit in doing this twice? I generally don't but noticed they did at the hairdressers. Would genuinely like to know!

I do sometimes if I feel there is a build up of products on my hair, like hairspray or serum etc - sometimes it needs two washes to get all the build up out x

Funnily enough, my hairdresser told me recently that any decent shampoo only needs one go through the hair UNLESS you can actually feel your hair is claggy with product build up or you work somewhere particularly dirty like the Underground.

She insists it is the simply manufacturer's way of getting us to get through a bottle quicker!

Yep, I agree. It's a cunning way to make us buy more shampoo!

Oooh, I never thought of that - oh their crafty arent they these manufacturers!
As mentioned above, it's a crafty ploy by the manufacturers to get the product used up more quickly. The same thing happens with toothpaste. Every advert shows the whole brush covered with toothpaste, when a pea sized blob is all you need to clean your teeth efficiently.

I shampoo in a hairdressers and i always give it two washes because thats what we were taught to do. In a salon a lot of clients will say that the shampooing is the best part of the visit so its enjoyable for them to do it twice over. I never shampoo my hair twice though. there really is no need unless you don't get much of a lather with the first shampoo, then it is advisavble to repeat the process.I think mostly we shampoo our hair most days so its pointless whereas i suppose in a salon, a lot of the clients only come once a week and don't wash it inbetween, some even fortnightly!!!!

I definitely find my hair feels cleaner and stays cleaner longer after 2 shampoos. The first shampoo doesnt lather up as much as the second one either I find

Oh Little Miss Unrulie... that's gross!!!

Once a fortnight...????

Ewwwww...

I could sit in the hairdresser's chair all flipping day and have my hair washed cos i LOVE the feeling... and it smells sooooo good, too.

(Only found your reply to my question the other day L-M-U... you ARE older than me, then, you were right!)

Now then little miss purpose!!!! lol Be kind to the older generation!

I was waiting for someone to say how gross it was, fortnightly! Doesn't bother me cause i suppose im used to it, however, what i do find repulsive, is a girl who just came in for a dry trim and then had it straightened, and i don't think she'd washed her hair in months. Of course, when the heat hit it, pooooooooooooh she stunk the salon out. Now that was gross! That smell of dirty hair is vile and it took a long while befor the smell went altogether. Thank God, she doesn't come in anymore!!

Oh Little Miss Unrulie... 68 isn't THAT old!

Have i led a sheltered life, i wonder... i have NEVER smelt dirty hair (although now i feel i need to give it a go, just so i can say i have!)

No don't! It's horrid! You really aren't missing a thing! if you still feel the need to smell it, try leaving your own for several weeks, that should be long enough lol

i find the best thing to do is to put the shampoo directly onto your scalp while its still dry and rub it in - then add the water.

i find that the cleaning power is better as the water has not diluted it.
