Where was Salmond tonight on the ITV news boasting that Scotland could go it alone without England and rely purely on North Sea oil to finance it's future. That was his argument for Scotland to leave the Union.
Westminster has to bail out Aberden now with £Millions.
At least Corbyn is good for the Tories and England but Salmond et al are a disaster for Scotland as we now see with the slump in oil prices.

We will see in May if the people of Scotland think "Salmond et al are a disaster for Scotland "
I don't live anywhere near London but: London is the world's largest financial centre, generating huge amounts of earnings. London and the SE are subsidising the rest of the country so why anyone would want to cut themselves off from this source of wealth is beyond me.
YMB, why didn't you think to take this comment of yours to its natural conclusion? You wrote, "All the Tories fault then. What was stopping labour setting one up during their tenures since 1970?"
The Tories were in power from 1970 (oil discovery) to 1997 (Labour landslide), a period of 27 years interrupted only by Labour's 5-year tenure from 1974 - 79. Simple arithmetic really, but I'll explain it anyway...the Tories had more than FIVE times as long as Labour did to consider creating an oil fund! By the time 1997 arrived, the bulk of the fortune that might[i have been made from oil had been squandered, so Labour had little chance of saving it.

Given that we are constantly told how the Tories are the party of economic wisdom, why did not a single member of that party see the opportunity? Even your right-wing goddess, Wonder Woman, failed even to catch a glimpse of the possibilities during her 13 years as PM, before her defenestration by her own cabinet...and [i]they] didn't notice either!
The word FIVE, above should read FOUR, of course.
Looks to me like Cameron is a bit scared of another Independence Referendum if the Uk votes to leave Europe.....he's started the sweetening up process....
TTT, as I've pointed out on AB frequently, if Scotland ever did go independent, the North Sea area currently 'belonging' to the UK would be divided between Scotland and the Rump UK...ie Scotland would 'own' part of the North Sea!
More to the point is the fact that the Rump would have no access to the North Atlantic area which is now the likeliest region for any future oil bonanza, having no significant coastline adjoining that ocean. (Remember Southern Ireland extends further north than Northern Ireland does!) I am convinced that this is why Westminster was and is determined to keep Scotland as a part of the UK.

Re your comment on Norway's prudence as opposed to our profligacy, I can't help but agree with you.
I don't think Dave is scared of another Indy ref as he has said that he wouldn't accept the result of one anyway if one was held before 2020
and it looks like it's only a sweetener to the oil industry
