No but a letter limit of 4000, you will see it displayed at the bottom of the text panel when typing.
There used to be a counter saying how many characters you had used and how many you had left. That's gone but I'm sure there's a limit as some posters posting very long queries continue with a couple of replies adding more info.
Which include characters and spaces.
Oh yes- the count is still there. Thanks ratter. I hadn't noticed it for a while
fiction-factory "There used to be a counter saying how many characters you had used and how many you had left."

Its still there!!
It says 4000 (characters).
OG, its "characters and spaces"
4000 does seem a lot. More is less in some cases. Reducing the figure to say 1000 may discourage some posters from copy and pasting huge chunks of earlier posts .
I have suggested before that the Question Details box should also have a counter and the character limit should be much lower- say 60 characters- to discourage those posters who fill the title box with clues etc and don't fill in the question box
a space is a character IMO
no
I mean yes
4000

dont go anywhere near this
keep it short and simple

the text editor strips all punctuation paraggraph marks so anything long gets to look like a lump of stodge you used to get at skoool dinners ugh !
I think 4000 is good, sometimes that amount is required, I know I have used it all myself once or twice. I think it best left alone IMO.

[ well left eye then but that is another story ]
so there ya go Hettster,....absolutely nothing stopping you from answering my response to your question in Body + Soul!

Baths

Although there must be a limit where others can't be bothered to start reading it and I'd have thought it was a lot less than 4000.
fair point well made Prudie x x
A bit tongue-in-cheek Baths but you do get them, especially in B&S (usually trolls pretending to be US teenagers with angst :-)
yeah Prudie, and I never cease to be amazed when someone I thought I "knew" on here is fooled by them ;)

x x
Know exactly what you mean xx
