Sunday. Just seen on the idiot box that winter is about to begin properly. Can't complain can we. It's calm now after an 'ooligan last night.

He is indeed. 26 and has his own house. I often think about the times he stayed with us when he was little. He loved being in the kitchen with me. He would come to the kitchen door and say 'Number two chef reporting for duty'. But he wouldn't come in until I told him to. I only ever had to show him how to do something once.

wish someone had done that with oh ! scrambled eggs in the micro is his limit !

My protege is an accomplished chef now, he cooks for friends. He used to cook at the big barbies we had twice a year. Always about 36 people! One in June for Vera's birthday and one in August for me and his mum, her birthday is the day before mine.

He's a fast learner. All his birthday money, well, most of it, went into the bank.

You will never meet a nicer lad.
