hi peeps i need some who knows a lot about ebay to help me, if someones posts an item to the buyer and its all well packed up and in perfect condition when it left their hands then it has an accident and is destroyed or ruined what can be done and who is resposible? urgent respponse please.

Firstly was the item sent by trackable means? If not the buyer can say the item did not arrive and as such will get a refund [from seller] In any event it is up to the seller to prove that the item was delivered and in good nick ON ARRIVAL. Any problems with post office damage should be handled by seller who should give immediate refund. I suggest you ask the same question on ebays help board. Go to site map-community-community discussion board, where you will find many wise old ebayers who can answer your question more fully.

the item did arrive but was damaged, do i give a refund? does that include the postage they paid and do i get the damaged goods back? thanks for all your replies
Request a return of the goods. Do not refund until goods are returned. I was scammed once, now I never refund until goods are returned. Also, if it is an expensive item say you need to also check your security markings.....this will hopefully ensure they don't return a similar item. If satisfied give a full refund and claim back from royal mail.
if the item arrived damaged then it is the fault of whoever you posted it with and if it was insured you dont have a problem,i take it you did insure it.

From my experience, if the buyer did not pay for insurance (i.e it wasn't sent recorded etc) then it's the buyers problem and they can take it up witht eh post office if you provide them with proof of postage.


But I too would not give a refund on a faulty item unless it was returned and I would not refund postage as if you bvuy something mail order and return it, you don't get refunded postage so you?

Me2Also is absolutely wrong. Rightly or wrongly ebay always puts the onus on the seller. Under ebay regs it is the seller who must provide trackable postage. Remember proof of postage is not proof of delivery.It is always up to the seller to make postal damage claims...the post office does not accept claims from recipients.
I would say that if postal insurance was not requested by the seller, then it's their problem if something arrived damaged via Royal Mail. I'm speaking from the perspective of a buyer, and how I'd react if this happened to me.

Unfortunately for Sellers, there's little way to prove what buyers say. Check their feedback rating - if they've no or negative feedback, they're probably scamming you and trying to get the product for free.
