my mum went to the hospital today and they told her she had a cyst in her throat but then sent her straight home!

I'm just wondering what to do and if there's anything I can do in the mean time as the only thing she can swallow is tiny sips of water.

what about ice cream?

Jelly,Custard and Slippery Elm?

how about milk, tomato soup or any of the above
What you really need to do is follow up with your mother's GP as soon as possible and find out exactly what the cyst is and what treatment is recommended for sorting it out since obviously your mother can't continue just only being able to take sips of water. Meanwhile if she has a liquidiser or food processor, she can make all kinds of "smoothies" by mixing yoghurt, milk, soft fruit (such as bananas and various berries such as raspberries/strawberries) and porridge oats to make a nourishing drink. If your mother has been a regular smoker, then she should follow up the results with her GP as soon as possible to ensure that the risk of throat cancer can be eliminated.
