I like it. Takes my mind off those annoying people letting their kids push the trollies and being bashed with baskets.

The reason I've asked this question is because Tesco management feel that customers do not like having music! I am a Tesco night worker and find it very boring in the early hours - it makes my shift seem endless - What do you the customers think? Thanks.

I dont like it. Especially near xmas cos you get that awful "i'm dreaming of a white xmas" over and over.

I spose its ok if i like the song though

Have them put some nice classical tunes on, instead of the usual pop junk. It would make a change.
I find most music annoying in stores. I go to shop, not listen to music. If i want music I`ll play it at home & put on what I like.

No, hate music in shops, even if it's music I otherwise like.
Don't mind it if it's at a really low volume. But what I do hate is shops that make loudspeaker announcements to customers. I usually turn to the wife and say in a loud voice, "Listen, Dear! We're being shouted at again!"

I dislike any music of any kind in any shop - with the exception of record shops.

Any modern clothes shops playing loud music I will not even enter - nothing to do with my age, I've always had a dislike of music in shops.

Sainburys do not have music playing,so if you dislike it why not shop there?
i don't care either way
Music in shops, I can tolerate, as long as it's not too loud. What really bugs me in Tesco are the loudspeakers:

"Mandy Lyfebotes to customer services, please."

"Summer's nearly here, so why not check out our garden furniture, blah blah blah..."

You know what I mean? You're just discussing with himself whether to buy the chicken pie or the steak and kidney pie when Little Miss Big Gob starts yelling down your ear'ole about a telephone call for Madame Whiplash. Grrrr...

Thanks for all the replies. Keep them coming. Thanks again.

Ohh.... I might be a bit controversial here, but I like music when I'm shopping, especially in Tesco's and especially late at night.

My hubby and I often have a boogie down the aisle, and a sing-a-long too.

Except a few weeks ago we had 'agadoo' and I'm sorry but I had to draw the line somewhere!

Personally, even though (apart from price) Kwik Save leaves a lot to be desired in terms of a shopping experience they definately play the best music, check it out.

Thanks for your replies. I do not want to hear music " blasting out " during my work time - I only want background music to help pass the time away. Also I am not concerned about " days" - only " nights" when the store does really go dead! What do you think? Thanks again.

Everyone's gone quiet - any more comments please?

I absolutely hate being bombarded with pop music when I'm shopping or in a pub or restaurant. If I walk into one of the places and hear it I walk straight out again and they lose my customer.

On the other hand, if I walked into Tesco and heard them playing some Mozart, Bach or Albinoni I'd probably dig out my camping stool and spend all day in there! . But as shops can never cater to all tastes, I think silence is the better option.
